Joint Parliamentary Briefing on Asylum Accommodation – March 2021 (#Closethebarracks Campaign)

During the pandemic, an unprecedented number of people seeking refugee protection have been forced into unsafe and inappropriate housing, including disused military barracks.

A Briefing,  jointly authored by Asylum Matters, Freedom from Torture, Choose Love, Refugee Action, the Helen Bamber Foundation and Doctors of the World explains why the use of barracks and similar contingency accommodation is unacceptable both during and after a pandemic. Dangerous asylum reforms are underway which undermine Britain’s commitment to international law and risk denying asylum seekers of their human rights.  The briefing offers an alternative vision for an asylum system that enables people seeking protection to rebuild their lives in safety within our communities. SEE and download the BRIEFING here:   https://www.freedomfromtorture.org/joint-parliamentary-briefing-on-asylum-accommodation-march-2021
